The challenge

In the fast-paced world of food and parcel delivery, security and trust are paramount. As smart lockers become more embedded in last-mile logistics, platforms raised concerns around unauthorized access, misuse of compartments, and the need for age-restricted or compliance-controlled deliveries (e.g. alcohol, prescription items). The challenge was to reimagine locker access control — not just as a lock-and-key system, but as a fully intelligent security protocol adaptable across industries.

project goals

Our goal was to create a robust, modular access framework that could serve enterprise-level needs without sacrificing user simplicity.

We aimed to:

  • Replace traditional static access codes with dynamic, encrypted authentication.

  • Support multi-level access: by customer, driver, cleaner, or account manager.

  • Introduce age verification technologies directly into the locker.

  • Build real-time tracking into every access point.

  • Seamlessly integrate with existing delivery platforms via API.

Key Objectives:

  • 🔐 Multi-Tiered Access Control with customizable permissions

  • 🆔 Built-in Age Verification via government ID/passport scanner

  • 📍 Real-Time Access Logs with full traceability

  • 🔄 One-Time Use Codes & Dynamic QR Entry

  • 🤝 Third-Party API Compatibility for secure integrations

the result

We deployed a new secure access system across multiple pilot locations and partner lockers. The system introduced flexible access layers, allowing platform partners to manage permissions down to the compartment level.

With facial recognition, dynamic QR codes, and age verification rolled into the locker system, we removed the risk of unauthorized pickup. Cleaners, drivers, and customer support teams could all be assigned different access tiers — dramatically reducing operational confusion and failed pickups. The solution proved scalable, adaptable, and ready for both high-risk and high-volume sectors.
